Why runners stay with us
“Cross the line, walk back, and your bed is right there. Not a two-hour drive home on legs that just ran 13.1 miles.”

Don't miss: Race done, medal on, kettle on. Everyone back at the tents comparing times before the coach has even left.

Morning after, sorted

Wake up by the coast, kettle on, medals out, compare times over a brew before anyone heads off.

Common questions about glamping at the Great North Run

  • Are beds, bedding and towels included? +

No. The tent price buys the tent, pitched and waiting before you arrive, plus the styling on Luxury. Beds, bedding and towels are add-ons you choose in the booking: single airbed £15, double airbed £20, memory foam single mattress £30, bed frame £15, bedding set £20 per bed (double £40, king £40), towel pack £15 per person. Pick only what you want, or bring your own.

  • Where are the tents pitched? +

Near the Great North Run finish in South Shields, close to the seafront and metro. We confirm the exact pitch field with your booking. It puts you a short walk from the finish line, so you cross the line and walk back to a real bed rather than facing a long drive home.

  • How much is a tent for the weekend? +

Tent packages for the full weekend: Unfurnished £250, Essentials £290, Luxury £330, 7m XL £420. Real beds and bedding are chosen next in the booking and added on top, so a fully made-up four-person Essentials setup comes to around £550, about £138 each for the weekend. Prices are being finalised for 2026.

  • Which nights does the booking cover? +

The tent is yours for the race weekend, Saturday and Sunday nights, ready when you arrive Saturday and collected from Monday. Sleep the night before the race and celebrate the night after without driving home tired.

  • Do I still need to enter the Great North Run? +

Yes. Glamping is your accommodation, not your race place. Enter through the ballot, a deferral or a charity spot on the official Great North Run site, then book your tent with us.

  • How do I get to the start line in Newcastle? +

The finish is where you're staying in South Shields. On race morning the metro and event shuttles run from South Shields up to the Newcastle start. We'll add exact timings and the nearest metro stop nearer the date.

Show all 17 questions
  • Can 4 of us share one tent? +

Yes, and it brings the tent cost down to £63 to £83pp for the weekend depending on package. Each 5m tent sleeps up to 4, the 7m XL sleeps up to 6. Strict limits for safety.

  • Can a couple share? +

Absolutely. Two memory foam mattresses pushed together make a king-size bed. Add a king bedding set and it's made up before you arrive.

  • Can I camp next to my running group? +

Yes, tell us in the booking note who you want to be near and we'll do our best to pitch your tents together. Book around the same time to make it easier for us to cluster you.

  • Is there power in the tents? +

No mains power in the bell tents, bell tent camping is unplugged. Each tent has a battery camping light. Bring a power bank to keep your phone and running watch charged.

  • What time is check-in and check-out? +

Check-in: from Saturday afternoon, your tent is pitched and waiting, find your name on the village welcome board. Check-out: 11am Monday. We pack down from there, so you can head off after the race whenever suits.

  • Is it cold at night? +

September nights in the North East can be chilly. Bedding sets include a duvet, and our tents zip fully shut. Cold sleeper? Add a memory foam mattress and a bedding set and you'll be warmer than anyone in a normal tent.

  • What if it rains? +

These tents have stood up to a lot. Integrated groundsheets, sealed seams. We've never had a guest get rained on inside one.

  • Can I bring a dog? +

Pets in our bell tents need prior written consent and depend on the site's own policy. Email [email protected] and we'll check for you.

  • What if I need to cancel? +

Full refund if you cancel 14 or more days before the race. No refund inside 14 days. Full terms come with your booking confirmation.

  • What if the Great North Run is cancelled? +

Full refund or transfer to another event.

  • When do bookings close? +

Sunday 6 September 2026, 7 days before the race. Great North Run weekend is one of the busiest of the year in the North East, so tents often sell out well before that.
